Hello Camp Families!
I hope that this note finds each and every one of you doing well. Albeit, probably a little restless, but with any luck we can all look forward to sunny days ahead.
The first message I want to extend to each of you is that of a helping hand and caring! We are in touch often with our Counsellors these days. Their message is consistent and clear – they are concerned for your Campers and miss them! If you find that any of your Campers (or you!) could use a helping hand, a smiling face, or an activity to keep them busy; please don’t hesitate to reach out! We have quite a few people looking to help.
Now, in regards to Summer Camp. We don’t have all the answers at this time but there are some updates and things that we think you will appreciate knowing. Despite the uncertainty in the days to come, we are going to commit to approaching them with the same intentions we took the yesterdays. Here are the things we know:
- We are committed to provide some form of the Camp experience this summer. We believe that the lessons, connections, and experiences of Camp are more important than ever for our community. We are willing, and busy, determining ways that we can adapt our program to facilitate the changing situation we are in.
- This commitment comes with the realization that the only way we can provide the Camp experience is if it safe and socially responsible to do so. Part of that will come from government guidance and part of that is up to us.
- With our well-trained staff, a league of advisors, a dedicated and creative attitude, we are well positioned to make the most of whatever situation we are in come the summer months. We have spent the last month determining contingencies so that given a variety of possibilities, we can ensure a safe environment.
- To be clear, we are dedicated to providing our Campers the opportunity for the connections and experiences we think are so valuable, but we will only do so if we are certain that those experiences can be provided in a safe and responsible way.
In the coming 61 days (16 hours and 1 minute) until our first scheduled opening, we will continue to monitor all levels of governments, health authorities, provincial and national Camping Associations’ recommendations and advice. As decisions are made on our end we will most certainly be in touch with you. We encourage hope and patience in these coming days! We will likely not have confirmed details on what summer may look like until summer is much closer.
Should any of you want to speak further regarding our plans, or the impact this situation has had on your own family’s plans, please do not hesitate to reach out. As mentioned, we are committed to doing what’s right and that means supporting our Camp families, our community, and each other.
As you are all being safe please don’t forget that there are sunny days ahead!
All the best,
