Days at Camp
Camp is active, outdoors, social and deliberately a little different every day. Campers belong to a consistent group with their Counsellors, but the games, challenges, locations and discoveries can change from one day to the next.

Camp Centennial treats summer Camp as experiential education. Campers learn by doing: trying something unfamiliar, solving problems with other people, taking appropriate risks, being responsible for a group and finding out that they are capable of more than they expected.
The approach is built around curiosity, connection and adventure. Fun is not separate from the learning; it is the way the learning happens.

Our approach and story
Camp Centennial is an independent social enterprise that has operated in its current form for more than 30 years. The experiences available to young people have changed substantially over that time, but the Camp’s central ideas have remained consistent: spend time outdoors, connect in person, build capacity and resilience, and make the process genuinely enjoyable.
The Camp is cellphone-free because the program is designed around direct connection. It is outdoors because being active in the natural world is achievable, meaningful and fun. It expects Campers to grow because the staff are trained to help them take the next step safely and successfully.

Blended Camps
A pride of Camp Centennial's programming are our "blended" Camps. These programs include the excitement of Day Camp with the adventure of a night or two at Centennial Landing on a sleep-away Out-Trip
Our Counsellors
Camp is based on staff, not stuff. Counsellors come from different backgrounds, interests and abilities, but they share a commitment to growth, curiosity and doing the work well.
More than 100 hours of training before each summer season.
Recognized certifications may include Lifesaving Society First Aid, CPR and AED; Paddle Canada canoeing; Bronze Cross and Bronze Medallion; and climbing safety.
Each Camper group has at least two Counsellors, with direct-supervision ratios generally between 1:6 and 1:8.
At least one Counsellor in each group is fully bilingual, and most staff are comfortable in both official languages.
Ongoing connection, support and supervision continue after the initial hiring, training and certification process.
